Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton said in a statement American fashion is “undergoing a renaissance, with young American designers at the vanguard of discussions around diversity, inclusion, sustainability and conscious creativity.” This year’s Gala will be split up into two events, the first of which’s theme is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion” inspired by The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s next costume exhibition.
